Mason Needs A Home
Meet Mason! He is a small, sweet-tempered and obediant pit bull (or possibly pit bull mix). He is about 6 years old, neutered, with no health problems. This boy gets along well with most other dogs (he has been living with a male Brittany Spaniel for the last two years), and children, but should probably not be in a home with cats or small animals or very aggressive adult male dogs. He and my Savage are good friends and we play together often, but his owners no longer have enough time for him and can't give him the attention he deserves.Mason is the kind of dog that people immediately fall in love with. He loves to cuddle and sleep in the bed with his people. He's a good watchdog and is very loyal. After having had a few different caretakers throughout his life, he has become very adaptable, and will fit in in most any household. He doesn't require a lot of exercise, but does need an owner willing to spend time with him, as he tends to have some seperation anxiety if left home alone for over 6 hours or so. Mason is a really clever guy, and could benefit greatly from a little more training, but all in all, is a very low-maintenance dog. He does well on or off leash, and responds well to basic obedience commands, but he's most content relaxing at home with his family. Most dog owners I know already have their hands full, but almost every one has said "If I wasn't so busy with my other dog(s) I would take Mason in a second". This dog really does deserve a stable, loving, forever home, with an owner that will make a life-long commitment to him. If any of the visitors to The Story Of Savage blog can help Mason find that home, please email me (Paula) at TackleBox1979@hotmail.com or leave a comment for me below this post. Let's help this truly good dog.

Goodbye Papa
As I get motivated to try and thaw my water lines, flush the lodges water filters, drink my coffee and look at my beautiful dogs. My Papa is being buried in Ottumwa Iowa. I am not posting this for replies, I am posting this because I do not want to just go on about my day as if were just like any other. My father died last week. We made all the arrangements to head to Iowa (home) on Monday morning. My brother came Saturday and picked up our Daddy for the last trip down I35. My Mom just having her own medical emergency informed us Monday am when we were loading the cars, she would not be making the trip with us. My mother has many medical issues and can not be left alone. One of us had to stay home with her and the only choice was me. I hate Funerals and everything about them. But now today I find myself very sad that I can not be there for the end of something so very important to me for 47 years. Awkward to say the least. It was not a decision made by choice so I do not feel guilty, just weird and sad. I will leave when my sister returns to go see where my dad is buried. I spent my Dads last hours with him so for that I am grateful. It will be a long emotional day in the snow thawing water lines. Please know Papa I am thinking about you, even though my day will look like any other.
It is not.
It is not.

In Memory of My Teddy
One year ago Teddy got sick. One year ago a Vet named James Lee (Duluth Vet Clinic) told me my dog did not have Blastomycosis. One year ago my Teddy died of Blastomycosis. One year ago Dr. James Lee and the Duluth Vet clinic, broke my heart, emptied my wallet and sent me a "sorry for your loss" card.
I miss my Teddy. RIP Teddy, Sleep well Dr. Lee.

Roggy the Carting Rottweiler
Well, I guess I should say he has a cart. As usual we have no time to train. Each time I have high hopes for my smart guy, something happens in my life. Right now I am short 2 cooks, my Mom and Dad are both in hospital and my Albert came back to live with us. Always somethin.
But we are not going to give up. My resort is closed November and December so we will find time to train! Geez....

Albert Back Home...Forever
Albert loved his new home...So much he was a little over protective. He will be living out his days with me. I am sorry for his new family as the love him. A big thank you to them for giving him such a great home and lots and lots of love. He is safe with me (and so is everyone else).
Roggy says"welcome home Albert"...I must say, it is a pain in the ass to have him and Roggy not get along, but Albert is worth it. I love him. And I missed him.
